John Stamos’ New Gig: Chief Innovation Officer of an Upstart Streaming Service-June 2024
Jun 14, 2025 4:03 AM

John Stamos has already found success as an actor and a musician. Now hes looking to add another line item on his rsum: Streaming executive.

Stamos is joining the upstart local streaming service Zeam as its chief innovation officer, helping the Gray TV-backed service expand its programming, while also serving as its public face in marketing campaigns.

Zeam launched earlier this year, and had hired Stamos to star in its Super Bowl commercial. According to Stamos and Zeam founder Jack Perry, it was at the filming of that commercial that the pair connected, and decided to expand the relationship. We just developed this kind of relationship where weve just been iterating on the future of Zeam together and what other content might come into play, and features, and how to make people feel a little more connected to home, Perry tells The Hollywood Reporter.

My role atZeamis to introduce powerhouse people in show business to the platform so we can expand and entertain the masses, while leaving the day-to-day content creation to the masterminds atZeam, Stamos says. Even before I was given the title of chief innovation officer, I was already introducing Jack to all my many contacts that Ive worked with over the years. I knew that the business of show would understand and see the value inZeam, and I was 100 percent right.

Zeam streams local news, weather, sports and entertainment content, leaning on local stations from 165 markets. According to Perry, Stamos experience as a sitcom star on Full House was also a benefit, because he understands the power of local, he understands that, you know, where theres one ABC affiliate, theres 209 other ABC affiliates, and that was a huge advantage as we started figuring out how to work together.

Stamos, for his part, says that he is also a believer in local programming, something missing from many of the major streaming services.

Ive alwaysbeena big fan of local news. My first shot at showbiz was performing a puppet show at a church fair, which got covered by my local station, Stamos says. Seeing my face on TV gave me the confidence to chase my dream of becoming a television starand also to lose the puppet act.

Who knows, maybe theres a young John Stamos out there, who just needs to see themselves on local news to gain the same sense of hope and confidence that I did, he adds.

And the actor adds that he hopes that the service could also help people maintain a strong bond with where you come from, no matter where you are, letting them follow local news relevant to them or their families.

He understood the product, really, before we had even talked about it, which is hugely important to me, and that he is proud of Zeam, and really wants to help take it to the next level, Perry says.

In connection to the announcement of his new role, Stamos is also appearing in a mockumentary-style spot about Zeam, which the streaming service released today:
