Apple TV+s latest series order will explore the world of high-end art, with two A-list stars attached.
Jessica Chastain and Adam Driver will star in The Dealer, which the streamer landed with a straight-to-series pickup following a bidding war with several other outlets. The two leads will also be executive producers. The show hails from The Morning Show and Pachinko producer Media Res and will be executive produced by Tony Award-nominated playwright Lucas Hnath, Sam Gold and Sarah Lunnie, all of whom collaborated on Hnaths play A Dolls House, Part 2. The Dealer is described as a biting exploration of power, class, seduction and culture set inside the glittering world of the high-end art market, told through the eyes of an aspiring super gallerist (Chastain) and the tangled relationship with her most gifted and unnerving artist (Driver).
The series will be the second at Apple TV+ for Chastain, who also stars in and executive produces the upcoming thriller The Savant. For Driver, The Dealer marks his first ongoing series role since Girls ended on HBO in 2017.
Hnath, Gold (who will also direct) and Runnie executive produce with Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer of Media Res, Chastain and Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films, Driver, and Alan Poul. Arianna Anderson is co-EP.
Chastain stars in the Berlin Film Festival entry Dreams. The Oscar winners recent credits also include Mothers Instinct, Showtimes George Tammy and HBOs Scenes From a Marriage. She is repped by CAA and Mosaic. Driver most recently starred in Francis Ford Coppolas Megalopolis and has two feature films on deck: Jim Jarmuschs Father Mother Sister Brother and James Grays Paper Tiger. He is repped by WME.
