Illinois' sentencing laws for criminal offenders are getting a closer look today. This afternoon, members of the House-Senate Joint Criminal Justice Reform Committee held their first meeting. Similar to the conference committee that met on pensions last year, this group will focus on the overcrowded prison system and provide a report to the Illinois General Assembly by Dec.1.
