How to Store Purslane for Extended Freshness

Harvesting Purslane

Cleaning and Preparing Purslane

Before storing purslane, it is essential to clean and prepare it properly. Start by removing any damaged or wilted leaves. Rinse the purslane thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris. Gently pat the leaves dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.

Storage Options

There are several storage options available to keep purslane fresh for an extended period:

  • Refrigerator Storage: Place the cleaned and dried purslane in a resealable plastic bag or an airtight container lined with a damp paper towel. Bring the solution to a boil, then pour it over the cleaned purslane in a sterilized jar. Seal the jar tightly and store it in a cool, dark place. The pickled purslane can be refrigerated and enjoyed for several weeks.
