Rambeh chutney is a traditional condiment made from the fruit of the Rambeh plant (also known as Garcinia xanthochymus).   • 500 grams of ripe Rambeh fruit
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon of grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon of grated garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon of oil

Preparation

Follow these steps to make delicious Rambeh chutney:

  • Wash the Rambeh fruit thoroughly and remove the seeds.
  • Chop the fruit into small pieces.
  • In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat.
  • Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Allow them to splutter.
  • Add the chopped green chilies, grated ginger, and grated garlic. Sauté for a minute.
  • Add the turmeric powder and red chili powder. Mix well.
  • Add the chopped Rambeh fruit and salt. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the fruit becomes soft and pulpy.
  • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool down.
  • Transfer the mixture to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Store the Rambeh chutney in a clean, airtight jar in the refrigerator.
