Definition: Nelli chutney is a traditional South Indian condiment made from the fruit of the Nelli tree (Phyllanthus emblica), also known as Indian gooseberry or amla. Step 1: Gather the Ingredients- 1 cup Nelli (Indian gooseberry) – deseeded and chopped
- 2-3 green chilies – chopped
- 1 small onion – chopped
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
- A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
- A few curry leaves
- 2 tablespoons oil
- Salt to taste
Step 2: Prepare the Nelli
Wash the Nelli thoroughly and remove the seeds. Chop the Nelli into small pieces and set aside.
