How to Make Horseradish Oil?

Definition: Horseradish oil is a potent and aromatic oil extracted from the roots of the horseradish plant (Armoracia rusticana). It is commonly used in culinary applications, as well as for its medicinal properties.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh horseradish roots, peeled and grated
  • 2 cups olive oil

Instructions:

  • Start by thoroughly washing and peeling the horseradish roots. Use a grater to finely grate the roots.
  • Place the grated horseradish roots in a clean, dry glass jar.
  • Pour the olive oil over the grated horseradish roots, ensuring that they are completely submerged.
  • Seal the jar tightly with a lid and give it a good shake to mix the ingredients.
  • Store the jar in a cool, dark place for at least two weeks. During this time, the oil will absorb the flavors and properties of the horseradish roots.
  • After two weeks, strain the oil through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove the grated horseradish roots.
  • Transfer the strained horseradish oil into a clean, airtight bottle or container.
  • Your homemade horseradish oil is now ready to use!
