Definition: How to Make Bergamot-Scented Candles

Bergamot-scented candles are a type of aromatic candles that are infused with the refreshing and citrusy fragrance of bergamot. Bergamot is a small citrus fruit that is primarily grown in Italy and is known for its distinctive scent, which is often described as a combination of citrus, floral, and spicy notes.

Materials Needed

  • Wax (such as soy wax or beeswax)
  • Bergamot essential oil
  • Candle wicks
  • Candle containers
  • Double boiler or a heat-resistant container
  • Thermometer
  • Stirring utensil (such as a wooden spoon or a spatula)
  • Optional: Candle dye or colorant

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Prepare your work area by covering it with newspaper or a protective surface.
  • Set up your double boiler or heat-resistant container on the stove or a heat source.
  • Add the desired amount of wax to the double boiler or container and melt it slowly over low heat. Stir occasionally to ensure even melting.
  • Once the wax has melted completely, remove it from the heat source and let it cool slightly.
  • Add a few drops of bergamot essential oil to the melted wax. The amount of oil will depend on your preference and the desired strength of the scent. Stir well to distribute the fragrance evenly.
  • If desired, add a small amount of candle dye or colorant to achieve the desired color. Remember to stir well to ensure even distribution.
  • While the wax is still liquid, carefully pour it into the candle containers, leaving a small space at the top.
  • Insert the candle wicks into the center of each container, making sure they are standing upright. You can use a wick holder or a pencil to keep the wicks in place.
  • Allow the candles to cool and solidify completely. This process may take a few hours, depending on the size of the candles.
  • Trim the wicks to a suitable length, leaving about ¼ inch above the wax surface.
  • Your bergamot-scented candles are now ready to be enjoyed! Light them up and savor the delightful aroma of bergamot filling your space.

Remember to exercise caution when working with hot wax and open flames. Always follow safety guidelines and keep flammable materials away from the candle-making area.
