  • Waste Generation and Recovery Data: National or regional waste management authorities often collect data on waste generation and recovery. By comparing the amount of waste generated with the amount of waste recovered through recycling, the recycling rate can be calculated.
  • Producer Responsibility Schemes: In some jurisdictions, producer responsibility schemes require companies to report on the amount of products they place on the market and the subsequent collection and recycling of those products. These schemes enable the calculation of recycling rates specific to certain product categories.
