Stages of Metamorphosis

Egg Stage:

The life cycle of a butterfly or moth begins with an egg. The female butterfly or moth lays tiny eggs on the leaves of plants, which serve as a food source for the emerging caterpillar. These eggs are often laid in clusters and can vary in color and shape depending on the species.

Larva Stage (Caterpillar):

Once the eggs hatch, they give rise to caterpillars. Caterpillars are the larval stage of butterflies and moths. They have a soft, elongated body with several segments and are equipped with multiple pairs of legs. Caterpillars have a voracious appetite and spend most of their time eating leaves and growing rapidly. They shed their skin several times during this stage to accommodate their increasing size.

Pupa Stage (Chrysalis/Cocoon):
