Many of the store-bought Creole seasonings are mostly salt, sometimes with added chemical preservatives and anticaking agents. This simple seasoning blend is a mixture of salt, pepper, and dried herbs and spices. How’s this for anticaking: shake the jar.
Ingredients
makes about 1 cup1/3 cup cayenne pepper
1/4 cup coarse salt
1/4 cup freshly ground white pepper
3 tablespoons dried thyme
1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
2 teaspoons dried sage
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Combine the cayenne, salt, white pepper, thyme, black pepper, sage, onion powder, and garlic powder in a small airtight container or mason jar. Stir to combine. Store in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.
