HBO will lead off its fall slate with Task, the limited series starring Mark Ruffalo and Tom Pelprhey from Mare of Easttown creator Brad Ingelsby.

Task is set to premiere Sept. 7 on HBO and HBO Max. Marvel Cinematic Universe regular Ruffalo stars in the seven-episode drama as an FBI agent who, at the behest of his boss (Martha Plimpton), leads a cross-agency task force to investigate a spate of home invasion robberies in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia. Pelphrey (Mank, Ozark) plays the man orchestrating the robberies.

HBO also released a new trailer for Task that strongly suggests Pelphreys character has personal motivation for the robberies: Im going to take their money so we can have a better life, he says, seemingly referring to a biker gang that traffics drugs. Watch the trailer (which expands on an earlier teaser) below.

Along with Ruffalo, Pelphrey and Plimpton, the Task cast includes Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu,Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Ral Castillo, Silvia Dionicio and Phoebe Fox. Mireille Enos has a recurring role.

Ingelsby is the creator, writer and showrunner of Task. He executive produces with directors Jeremiah Zagar and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Mark Roybal and Paul Lee for Wiip, Ruffalo, David Crockett and Ron Schmidt. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Jeremy Yaches of Public Record are co-exec producers.
