HBOs The White Lotus is saying bonjour to France for the fourth season of the star-studded drama.
HBO and HBO Max chairman and CEO Casey Bloys confirmed the location during Thursdays HBO Max programming slate presentation in New York.
Its going to be in France, Bloys said of the next installment of The White Lotus, indicating season four wasnt too far along yet. Mike [White] is writing and just starting. Bloys added that White is also very, very early in the casting process. The reveal follows months of reports and speculation about the Gallic location of the fourth season.
Showrunner Mike White, who took time between seasons to revisit his reality TV past on Survivor, just wouldnt want to be in the cold, The White Lotus producer David Bernad previously told The Hollywood Reporter as part of a White Lotus cover story ahead of the season three finale. He hates it.
White also previously suggested hed stay away from the French capital as something like Paris, he said, would feel like a cop-out.
And on the official White Lotus podcast after the season three finale, White hinted at a change from the beachside resorts of the past three seasons in Hawaii, Italy and Thailand, respectively. He said hed want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular.
On the red carpet for the 2025 Emmys, season three actress Parker Posey said that White wasnt at the awards show because he was scouting locations in France. Speaking about those remarks to THR after the ceremony, Bloys joked, Well, if she said it, I will have to agree with her.
In all seriousness, he indicated it was too early to speculate. Beyond that, locations, anything like that, theres nothing official [to say], he said. But Mike has got ideas that hes working on, and I think its going to be great.
Bloys added that White was narrowing it down.
Bernad also told THR over the summer that though he couldnt share anything specific about season four, he was very excited for what Mike is working on and thinking about.
I think its going to speak to culture in a way that [] is going to be relevant, Bernad said. I dont want to say too much [other than] I know what it is and where its going, and its really exciting and I think people will be happy about the direction of season four.
Meanwhile, White superfans can watch his Survivor return for the all-star 50th season Feb. 25 on CBS.
