Entering the 2024 Primary Election Season: A ‘Latino Voices’ Community Conversation-April 2024
Apr 30, 2026 1:48 PM

As Americans enter the primary election season, Latino voters will be crucial in deciding the outcome of the 2024 election.

Latino voters have become the second-largest segment of the U.S. electorate, representing 14.3% of the electoral roll as of November 2022, according to Bloomberg.

Meanwhile, the economy, educational opportunities, immigration and racial equality are among the most important issues among registered Latino voters going into the election.

WTTW News on-air reporter Joanna Hernandez discussed with community leaders who have insight into these issues what their organizations are doing to further the conversation, as well as the impact of federal policies on the local community level.

Hernandez was joined by Sylvia Puente, president and CEO of Latino Policy Forum; Ric Estrada, president and CEO of Metropolitan Family Services; and Veronica Herrero, executive vice chancellor and chief of staff at City Colleges of Chicago.
