Don't leave these items off your Thanksgiving shopping list

You can make a list and check it twice (I know, wrong holiday), but there is always something you forget. As soon as you get home and you’re unpacking the groceries, it hits you. Damn, I forgot the... *insert item from the Thanksgiving Most Forgotten List*.

In a press release sent to The Takeout, the multi-retailer, same-day delivery company Shipt reported a list of grocery and household items that people most often forget or buy last-minute when getting ready for their Thanksgiving celebrations. The list was put together based on a survey of 2,100 Americans and the company’s proprietary data. From those 2,100 people, it was determined that a third of people forget the cranberries. And in second place is spices, which from personal experience seems accurate. Spices get used all year round, so when you go to the grocery store you just assume that you already have plenty at home.

Check out the full list of most forgotten items below:

In fact the only item that appears on both lists is pie crust. A pie without a crust is no pie at all, so that makes it absolutely essential. Among the top five last-minute purchases were (1) sweet rolls, (2) cream cheese, (3) fried onions, and (4) butter, all items that are absolutely crucial for a successful Thanksgiving feast, so they better not find their way on your forgotten list this year.

Can you guess what most people never forget? Yep, the booze! Only 14% of people in the survey said they’ve forgotten to buy alcohol. Cheers to that!
