Donald Trump Launches Website Selling 400 Sneakers But Claims Its Not Political-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 11:01 AM

Donald Trump made a promotional appearance at Sneaker Con in Philadelphia to introduce his new website, GetTrumpSneakers.com, which sells sneakers bearing his brand for prices up to 400. The launch event featured the former president on stage with banners advertising the website and QR codes that directed attendees to the site, which only became active on the day of the announcement, as per the Internet Archives Wayback Machine. Each product page on the website includes disclaimers, such as one indicating that images of the 400 gold sneakers might not represent the actual product exactly. Budget-conscious fans can opt for 200 red sneakers adorned with 45, referencing Trumps status as the 45th U.S. President, and the site also offers cologne and perfume priced at 100 each, with a limit of three pairs of shoes per customer. Notably, the homepage of the sneaker website explicitly states that Trump is not directly involved in designing, manufacturing, distributing, or selling the sneakers these activities are carried out by CIC Ventures LLC, which has licensed the use of the Trump name and associated design. The rationale behind Trumps entry into the sneaker market isnt explicitly clear. However, he has a history of launching various products under his brand, ranging from water bottles to steaks, although many have since been discontinued. Curiously, Alan Vinogradov, the president of SneakerCon, has reportedly donated to Trumps 2024 campaign, according to the Pennsylvania Capital-Star. Despite the commercial nature of the event, the atmosphere at Trump’s announcement resembled that of a campaign rally, complete with the entrance song God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood—a staple at his previous rallies. He even invited a supporter wearing a Trump shirt on stage, who passionately praised him and encouraged voting for him. In response to this latest business venture, the Biden campaign took a jab at Trump, with Biden campaign communications director Michael Tyler suggesting that Trumps involvement in selling sneakers is as close as he will ever get to being aboard Air Force One again, referring humorously to the sneakers as bootleg versions of luxury designer Off-Whites and alluding to the upcoming 2024 election.
