David Schwimmer said he once had to take a break from listening to the Friendstheme song.
The actor who played Ross Geller on the beloved sitcom recently appeared on Matt Lucasand David WalliamsMaking a Scenepodcast, where he confessed that he never again wanted to hear So no one told you life was gonna be this way at one point after the show ended.
I never watched the show after we finished it, the actor explained. For me, its like, I did it, Im moving on. I dont really go back and revisit. Ill be really honest, there was a time for quite a while that just hearing the theme song would really Schwimmer added, trying to find the right words to describe the feeling before he just let out a sigh.You know what I mean? I just had that reaction. I mean, I just had heard it so many times.
In response, Lucas quipped, Well, no one told you life was going to be that way, referencing the theme songs opening line.
Correct, thank you, Schwimmer responded. And any time youd go on a show or a talk show or an interview, that would be your intro song. So I just didnt have the greatest response to it for a period of time.
However, Schwimmer said his perspective changed once his daughter, whom he shares with ex-wife Zo Buckman, discovered it around age nine and started watching the show.
Id be making breakfast or whatever and Id hear my kids laughter, the Goosebumps actor recalled. My whole relationship to that song and to the show changed again.
