Cynar-Berry Spritz

Skip the cranberry cocktail juice and go for the full-strength option for this flavorful take on the spritz. Cynar’s herbal, honey-like sweetness is all you need to offset cranberry’s natural tannic tartness. If you need to sweeten it up, add a little simple syrup to taste or use cranberry juice cocktail and only 2 oz. of prosecco.

Ingredients

Makes 1

3 oz. unsweetened 100% cranberry juice, chilled

  1 oz. Cynar

  4 oz. prosecco, chilled

  Lemon peel, for garnish

Fill a wine glass three quarters full with ice. Pour the cranberry juice, Cynar, and prosecco over the ice. Gently stir to combine. Twist the lemon peel over the drink and drop it in.

  Cook’s note:

For a zero-proof drink, fill a wine glass three quarters full with ice. Pour 3 oz. Lurisia chinotto, 1½ oz. unsweetened cranberry juice, a squeeze of lime, and 1–2 oz. tonic water over the ice. Gently stir to combine. Taste and add a splash of simple syrup, if desired, and garnish as directed.
