The music-focused family comedy feature Peas and Carrots is looking to hit the right notes.

Blue Harbor Entertainment has acquired writer-director Evan Oppenheimers movie and will release it in theaters Oct. 3, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. The indie film stars Kirrilee Berger (Unsung Hero), Amy Carlson (Blue Bloods) and Jordan Bridges (Rizzoli Isles).

Peas and Carrots centers on New York-based 16-year-old Joey Wethersby (Berger), whose parents were part of a 1990s one-hit wonder band. After encouraging her parents to start a new band, Joey finds herself traveling nightly to an alternate reality where everyone repeatedly says the titular three-word phrase. The trailer can be seen below and is exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter. People were spouting nonsense at me, Berger says in the footage. It feels like Im being transported somewhere.

Oppenheimer, who wrote and directed the project that premiered at the Dances With Films festival in June, previously helmed such features as The Magnificent Meyersons and Lost in Florence. Edward SchmidtandJay Zellman serve as producers.

The film includes original songs written by Marky Ramone of the Ramones, Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth and Ryan Miller of Guster. Co-starring in Peas and Carrots are Andrew Polk(Armageddon Time),Kelly McAndrew (Orange Is the New Black),Talia Oppenheimer(The Magnificent Meyersons),Callum Vinson(Long Bright River),Laurissa Romain(Top Five),Dan Thompson(A New York Story),Gabriel Rush(Moonrise Kingdom),Angel Desai(NCIS: New Orleans),Ajay Naidu(Office Space) andFaith Gitchell.

Blue Harbor Entertainment is a distributor for indie titles. It is led by Amanda Sherwin, Mike Messina and Seth Needle.

Oppenheimer recalls meeting Ramone and that the drummer asked about the family bands music in Peas and Carrots. Marky asked about the songs in the movie, the filmmaker says. Marky, along with Roy Rosental, turned my minimal chorus into a rousing anthem.
