Ingredients

To frost a 9-inch cake

  Bring 1 cup heavy cream to the simmer in a 1 1/2-quart saucepan. Lower heat and stir in 8 ounces semisweet chocolate broken into bits. Stir briskly until melted and smooth, then remove from heat. It will thicken as it cools.
