Chicago's Bloody Holiday Weekend-April 2024

New gun laws are set to take effect after a holiday weekend that saw 10 homicides. Paris Schutz has the details on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm. On May 24, the Illinois House passed a concealed carry bill by 85-30-1. See how House members voted on SB 2193 in our interactive graphic. Pat Quinn made big changes and stricter regulations to the concealed carry bill by taking amendatory veto action on House Bill 183, legislation that will allow and regulate the carrying of concealed handguns in public places. The state has been given a court-ordered deadline of July 9 to legalize carry weapons.
