During the day, Dr. Wendy Goodall McDonald sees patients at herobstetric and gynecological practiceaffiliated with Northwestern Medicine.
But after work, she becomes Dr. Everywoman – an entertaining online persona educating people about health topics through song parodies.
For instance, the famous opening lines of Lizzo’s hit song“Truth Hurts”become: “I just took a UCG test, turns out I’m 100% pregnant,” in theDr. Everywoman parodyvideo for expecting mothers.
A South Side native, McDonald graduated from Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine in 2007 and completed her residency at Rush University Medical Center in 2011.
Earlier this month, she was guest on “Chicago Tonight” to discuss the issue ofracism in health care.
She and her husbandDr. Edwin McDonaldhave three young children who enjoy their mother’s artistic endeavors.
“I love that they watch my videos and they’re like, ‘Oh, she’s pregnant!’ or ‘that’s a Pap test!’ – like they literally know my lyrics,” McDonald said. “And to me, that’s going to make for a better and healthier future for them and I hope the same would be true for those who watch what I do.”
