Chicago Police Release Footage of Suspects in Shooting of Off-Duty Officer-March 2024
Mar 18, 2026 12:28 AM

The Chicago Police Department has released surveillance footage of two men believed to be involved in the non-fatal shooting of an off-duty police officer Monday in the Calumet Heights neighborhood.

This marked the second CPD officer to be shot in just two days.

The shooting occurred at about 12:21 p.m. Monday in the 8900 block of South Stony Island Ave. The officer, whose name has not been released, was struck in the abdomen.

During a press conference Monday afternoon, a doctor at the University of Chicago Medical Center said the officer suffered potentially life-threatening injuries, but was listed in fair condition. Police Superintendent David Brown said the officer works in the department’s fourth district.

“It’s been an outpouring of officers,” Brown said Monday, describing the response to the shooting from the officer’s colleagues. “We really had to put the stop sign up because officers just kept coming … He’s well-liked, hard-working and we’re just grateful for this hospital, the doctors and the things that they’ve done to bring him to this point.”

If anyone sees the two subjects wanted by police, they are asked to call 911. Anonymous tips can also be submitted at cpdtip.com and Area Two detectives can be reached at 312-747-8271.
