Over 24 years in office, Illinois U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, a Democrat, has risen to become one of the most powerful members of that chamber, currently serving as the Senate’s Democratic whip.
But challengers say Durbin has become the ultimate Washington insider who’s lost sight of what’s best for his home state.
Joining “Chicago Tonight” for a candidate forum are two of those challengers:
Republican candidateMark Curran, the former Lake County Sheriff.
Independent candidateWillie Wilson, a businessman and previous candidate for Chicago mayor and U.S. president.
Also running to unseat Durbin are Green party candidate David F. Black and Libertarian Danny Malouf. Durbin declined our invitation to participate in this forum.
