‘Adolescence’ Has Now Passed All ‘Bridgerton’ Seasons on Netflix’s Top 10 All-Time Rankings-May 2024

Adolescence just went through a huge growth spurt.

Last week, the U.K. limited-series drama jumped from No. 9 on Netflixs Most Popular English TV list to No. 4, the streamer revealed on Tuesday. It leapfrogged over seasons one and three of Bridgerton, fellow limited series The Queens Gambit and Fool Me Once, and season one of The Night Agent.

Adolescence debuted less than a month ago and already has more than 114 million views, Netflix says. Of that total, 17.8 million happened last week, making Adolescence No. 1 yet again, besting Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer and and the streamers medical-procedural experiment Pulse in their respective debut weeks. One cool note that is incrementally helping shift internal records around: Adolescence has been madeavailable to stream in secondary schoolsacross the U.K.

Adolescence tells the story of how a familys world is turned upside down when 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper) is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl who goes to his school. Stephen Graham is Jamies father (and his appropriate adult in police-talk), Eddie Miller. Ashley Walters stars as Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe and Erin Doherty is Briony Ariston, the clinical psychologist assigned to Jamies case.

The limited series reunites Graham and Philip Barantini, who previously collaborated on feature film Boiling Point. Like Boiling Point, each episode of Adolescence is a one-shot.

Adolescence is created and written by Graham and Jack Thorne (The Swimmers, Joy). Executive Producers are Mark Herbert and Emily Feller for Warp Films, Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters for Matriarch Productions, Jack Thorne for One Shoe Films, Philip Barantini for Its All Made Up Productions, and Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner and Nina Wolarsky for Plan B Entertainment.

Carina Sposato (also Plan B), Peter Balm and Niall Shamma (Warp Films) serve as co-executive producers; Jo Johnson is producer.
