The saga of Geralt of Rivia is coming to an end.

Netflix announced Wednesday that it has ordered a fifth and final season of The Witcher. The streamer also noted that season four, which will see Liam Hemsworth taking over the role of Geralt from Henry Cavill, has begun production. The final two seasons will film back to back.

It is with huge pride that we begin shooting our penultimate season of The Witcher with a stellar cast, including some exciting new additions, led by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said in a statement. Were thrilled to be able to bring Andrzej Sapkowskis books to an epic and satisfying conclusion. It wouldnt be our show if we didnt push our family of characters to their absolute limit stay tuned to see how the story ends.

The fourth and fifth seasons will adapt the last three books in Sapkowskis series: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow and Lady of the Lake. The fourth season will follow Geralt, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) and Ciri (Freya Allan), who have split apart after the events of season three and must lead the groups of misfits in which they find themselves in order to have a chance of finding each other again.
