It’s overcooked. And, unfortunately, it can’t be unglued. (Perhaps you were planning to put up some wallpaper?) Next time, stop cooking short of the consistency you want, as it will set more as it cools.

　　

Won’t thicken

Step 2

Old tapioca won’t thicken. If you’ve used it to try to thicken something like a pie filling, you’ll have a loose (though still delicious) pie. If it’s a pudding, you can add some arrowroot or some cooked rice and an egg and whisk constantly over low heat.
