Mikey Madison Gets Pitched an ‘Anora Fedora’ Idea After ‘Anora Menorah’ Was Cut in ‘SNL’ Promo-May 2024

Awards season may be over, but the Anora praise isnt.

Mikey Madison is set to host Saturday Night Live this week, coming off her Oscar win for Sean Bakers Anora a few weeks ago. In a promo for the upcoming episode, posted on Wednesday, Sarah Sherman shows Madison a sketch that was cut from a previous episode involving her character Anora, in lingerie, on top of a Menorah, called the Anora Menorah. The SNL castmember first revealed the idea on Late Night with Seth Meyers in January.

After Madison sees the Anora Menorah in Shermans dressing room, Sherman points out, Oh, the Anora Menorah. We used it in a sketch that got cut. Madison responded, asking, Did people think it was funny? The unaired sketch shows no one laughing, so a nervous Sherman said, Yeah, it killed definitely, people were laughing. Which reminds me, I wanted to pitch you the Anorafedora.

The Hollywood Reporter (@THR) March 26, 2025 Though the idea is a pass to Madison, adding, Well, you guys will have other ideas, right?

The 26-year-old won the Academy Award for best actress for her role as a sex worker from Brooklyn named Ani (also Anora). While accepting the award, Madison praised the sex worker community. I just wanted to recognize and honor the sex worker community. I will continue to support and be an ally, she said in her speech. All of the incredible women I have had the privilege of meeting from that community have been one of the highlights of this entire experience.

After her win, Madison spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about her plans for the future. I hope to continue to work with interesting people, she said. Its all about following a feeling, because its an emotional job, and I think I just have to really feel that pull toward something, that really strong pull, like, I absolutely have to do it. Because of this film, Ive been able to just think about it.

Following Anora and other serious roles like playing insane killers in films, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Scream VI, Madison will venture out into comedy this Saturday with musical guest Morgan Wallen.
